Most of it is Fifty Shades, because that is where most of it is. Add one short, real moment in Suspiria, and that’s the list. She once called the trilogy “those big naked movies”, and she wasn’t wrong.
What isn’t here: the fake “sex tape” and “leaked” junk with her name on it, the topless phone photo in Daddio (tagged as a body double by the nude-scene databases), and a few real scenes I left out on purpose. A Bigger Splash is out because her character turns out to be seventeen. The Wounds bath is out because she is catatonic when it happens. The Suspiria finale is out because it is gore and prosthetics. What She Said About Getting Naked
She has been refreshingly blunt about all of it, the nudity included. Every quote below comes from the linked interview.
Why she did it. “I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know so much about it,” she told Vanity Fair in 2022. “That’s why I did those big naked movies.”
The Fifty Shades set. In the same interview she said the shoot was a fight with the author, E.L. James, who had a lot of creative control. “We’d do the takes of the movie that Erika wanted to make, and then we would do the takes of the movie that we wanted to make. The night before, I would rewrite scenes with the old dialogue so I could add a line here and there. It was like mayhem all the time.” Her verdict: “If I had known at the time that’s what it was going to be like, I don’t think anyone would’ve done it. It would’ve been like, ‘Oh, this is psychotic.’ But no, I don’t regret it.” And about those rumors of a feud with Jamie Dornan: “There was never a time when we didn’t get along.”
The Red Room. The scene that took the most out of her was the flogger. “Filming a sex scene is not a sensual or pleasurable environment. It’s really hot — not in a steamy, sexual way. It’s just sweaty and it’s not very comfortable. And on top of that, my hands and legs were tied, and I was blindfolded, and I was being hit with this bizarre tool,” she told TIME. “It was emotionally taxing.” Dornan’s contribution, collected by The Independent: everything tucked away “in a little flesh-coloured bag… like a little bag of grapes.”
Suspiria. Making it, she told Elle, as quoted by The Independent, “no lie, f**ked me up so much that I had to go to therapy.” At the Venice press conference she clarified it to Entertainment Weekly: “I’m a very porous person and I absorb a lot of people’s feelings,” and “It wasn’t that this film sent me to a ward, I just have a lot of feelings.”
Why Now: Verity
Verity, Michael Showalter’s adaptation of the Colleen Hoover thriller, opens in theaters on October 2, rated R. She plays Lowen Ashleigh, a writer hired to finish the book series of a bestselling author who can no longer write it herself, and that author is played by Anne Hathaway. Josh Hartnett plays the husband. I’m not going to describe a single scene from a film nobody has seen yet; when it is out, this page will get updated.
From The Social Network to Verity
She was born in Austin in 1989 to Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, with Tippi Hedren for a grandmother, which is less a family than a film school. Her first proper grown-up role was the morning-after girl in The Social Network, then a Fox sitcom, Ben and Kate, and then the part that changed everything: Anastasia Steele, three films, over a billion dollars at the box office and, yes, a Razzie she shared with Jamie Dornan.
What she did next is the interesting part. She went to Italy for Luca Guadagnino twice, in A Bigger Splash and Suspiria, played a young mother in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Lost Daughter, a Jane Austen heroine in Persuasion, and started her own production company, TeaTime Pictures. She made Madame Web and laughed about it in public, then turned up in Celine Song’s Materialists. The woman the internet only knew from a Red Room turned out to have taste.

The Bar Argument at Closing Time
Is there a Dakota Johnson sex tape?
No. Nothing real has ever surfaced. What gets passed around under that name is either Fifty Shades footage with a new title or a fake. The real scenes, the ones she actually agreed to, are all on this page.
Why isn’t A Bigger Splash here?
She is nude in it, but her character, Penelope, is revealed at the end to be seventeen: her passport gives her away. Dakota was an adult when she shot it, but this site only ranks adult characters, so it stays out.
Why isn’t the Wounds bath scene here?
Because her character is in a catatonic trance when she is put in the bath. It is a horror beat about a woman who can’t respond, not a nude scene, and I’m not ranking it.
What about the Suspiria finale?
The sabbath at the end is full of nudity, but it is gore, prosthetic make-up and other dancers being torn apart. The only straightforward nude moment she has in the film is the short dorm room scene, and that is here.
Is that really her in Daddio?
The topless photo her character sends from the back of the cab is tagged as a body double by the nude-scene databases, so it’s not here. Neither is anything else flagged as a double.
Where is the Fifty Shades Freed beach scene?
Ana does go topless on the honeymoon beach, but a young boy is in the scene and the beach behind them is full of extras, so I left the clip out rather than guess who is in the background.
Will Verity be added?
Once it is out and I have actually seen it, yes. Until then all you get is the release date.
