What happens in Fifty Shades of Grey
This is the scene where Christian finally slows down. Ana is on the bed, he has a glass of wine in his hand, and instead of reaching for anything from the Red Room he fishes out an ice cube and takes a very long route with it down her body. The contract still isn’t signed. She is still deciding. He is still trying to convince her, just by other means.
It is the most playful scene in the first film, and Johnson carries it almost without a word, flinching, laughing and then not laughing at all. The camera stays on her face as much as on the ice, which is the right call. It is the gentlest bit of kink in the trilogy, and the one people went home and tried.
