Devon Finestra walks into a room full of artists wearing a dress, and a few minutes later the dress is on the floor and she is the most interesting thing in New York.
What happens in Vinyl
Devon is a former model and actress with old ties to Andy Warhol’s Factory, married to a record executive, Richie, and she has been thirsty for the art world she gave up ever since the wedding. In episode six she throws herself back into it, in a loft crowded with artists and hangers-on. She pulls the dress off, stands there in the daylight, then settles onto the sofa while the room carries on around her. It is long, it is well lit and it is not played for a cheap thrill; it is a woman remembering who she used to be.
She told Entertainment Tonight that she hadn’t seen it coming for Devon but was thrilled by it, that the scene was shot by Reed Morano, and that the ’70s merkin she wore “was definitely cracking me up to no end.” The quotes and links are on the Olivia Wilde hub.
