Most season finales end with a gunshot or a cliffhanger. The Hunting Wives ends its first season with Margo Banks lighting a cigar in bed, which is how you know the writers understood exactly what they had.
What happens in The Hunting Wives finale
By episode eight Sophie has spent a whole season orbiting Margo, the richest, loudest and most dangerous woman in a small East Texas town, and pretending she can stop any time she likes. She can’t. The two of them kiss in a white bedroom, the clothes come off without much ceremony, and they end up in bed and under the sheets, both topless, with Brittany Snow’s Sophie very much the one being taken apart. Then comes the coda: the two of them lying there afterwards, Margo with a cigar, the sheet sliding wherever it likes, one more kiss before the credits.
Mr Skin named this the number one nude scene of 2025, ahead of Nicole Kidman in Babygirl and Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza in Honey Don’t!, and I am not going to argue with a man who takes his job that seriously. What makes it work is that Akerman plays Margo as a woman who is completely at ease in her body, and Snow plays Sophie as someone who can’t quite believe where she is. Snow later said Akerman kept asking if she was OK and offered to position her own body so Snow didn’t have to show more than she wanted; the quotes are on the Malin Akerman hub.
This one is number one on my list, and the scene that started it all is the episode four lesbian scene. For Margo on her own terms, try the bathroom and towel scenes.
