What happens in The Heartbreak Kid
Lila is sweet and gorgeous right up until the wedding, and then the Farrelly brothers let her off the leash. On the honeymoon in Mexico she turns the hotel bed into a gym: bent over the edge, legs over his shoulder, head hanging off the mattress, shouting instructions at a husband who looks like he is being mugged. She is topless for a good part of it, laughing, slapping, completely committed, and Ben Stiller does his best impression of a man who realizes he has made a terrible mistake.
It was the role that put her on the map, and she told ComingSoon the scenes were “quite acrobatic”: Peter Farrelly got on the bed and demonstrated the positions because she didn’t understand what he was describing. “It’s like you’re in a really funny scene and you just happen to be having sex in it.” To GQ she said Stiller “got a little rough in the bed.” The rest is on the Malin Akerman hub.
