What happens in episode four
Sophie moved to Texas for a quiet life with her husband, and Margo has been dismantling that plan one glass of wine at a time. Here it finally tips over. Margo kisses her, Sophie kisses back, a red bra goes the way of all red bras, and the two of them land on a bed with blue sheets. Sophie goes down on Margo first, and Akerman gets the kind of close-up that makes you forget you are watching a Netflix show about a murder in a small town. Then Margo returns the favor as the camera politely backs away.
It is longer than the finale and a little less polished, which is the point: it is the first time, and both women play it like the first time. Akerman told the New York Post that everything was rehearsed with an intimacy coordinator before anyone got to set, so there were “no surprises,” and that when it is on your screen, “hopefully it feels very sexy and exciting.” It does.
