What happens in Watchmen

Laurie Jupiter and Dan Dreiberg have already tried this once, on his couch, in street clothes, and it did not go well for Dan. So they suit up, go out and save a tenement full of people from a fire, and on the way home the Owlship becomes the most famous bedroom in comic-book movies. The costumes come off, the moon fills the window, Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” plays over the whole thing, and at the crucial moment the ship’s flamethrower goes off. Zack Snyder has never been accused of subtlety.

It is dark, the lighting is mostly moon and dashboard, and some critics have called it one of the worst sex scenes ever filmed. I call it one of the most sincere. Akerman told the Mirror she saw it at a screening with her father, “my whole body froze,” and that he said, “Nice job. You look really good.” She also told CBR she got huge bruises on her legs from the Owlship’s tight chair: “Try explaining that to your husband.” More on the Malin Akerman hub.
