What happens in Passengers
Aurora Lane is a writer asleep in a hibernation pod on a ship bound for a colony world, until Jim Preston, a mechanic who woke up decades too early, gets lonely enough to wake her too. She doesn’t know that part. What she knows is the pool, the robot bartender, the empty galaxy outside the window and the man who seems to be the only other person alive. They fall for each other, and the film gives them a run of bed scenes: a bare back, a sheet that doesn’t quite stay put, the two of them tangled up and happy before the truth comes out.
This was her first real sex scene, and she was honest about it at the THR roundtable: “I got really, really drunk.” Pratt was married at the time and she felt guilty about kissing him. His version: “She wanted to have some wine, so we did, and that was nice.”
