Romy Mathis runs a robotics company in New York. She has a devoted husband, two daughters and a very expensive life, and in almost two decades of marriage she has never once finished in bed with him. Then an intern named Samuel starts talking to her like nobody else does. By the time they meet in a hotel room, both of them know what the game is, and she is the one who came to play it.
He sits in an armchair and tells her to take her clothes off. She laughs at him first. Then she stalls, slides her underwear off on the sofa, stands, turns her back and lets the rest go. When she faces him she covers herself with her hands like a girl caught skinny-dipping, and he just watches until she stops hiding. Halina Reijn holds the shot longer than any studio would, and Kidman plays every second of shame, nerve and want in it without a single line of dialogue.
