Anne Hathaway The Last Thing He Wanted Nude Scene (2020)

Dee Rees turned a Joan Didion novel about 1980s arms deals into a Netflix thriller, and the only time anybody relaxes is in bed. Naturally, it’s Anne Hathaway and Ben Affleck, and naturally, nobody is telling the whole truth.

The Last Thing He Wanted (2020): Elena, topless in warm lamplight, talks to Treat in a hotel bed while he mostly listens (73s)

What happens in the hotel

Hathaway plays Elena McMahon, a newspaper reporter whose dying father’s shady business drags her into gun-running in Central America. Ben Affleck is Treat Morrison, a State Department fixer with an agenda he keeps to himself. They meet in a hotel in Antigua, spar a little and end up in bed.

The clip is the aftermath. Elena lies back in amber lamplight, topless and unguarded, telling him who her father is and what she’s been doing for him, while Treat listens a little too carefully. It’s one long, still conversation, closer to a confession booth than a love scene, and she carries every second of it.

Critics hated the film; Rees herself told EW that “everybody hated it” (EW). It’s better than its reputation, and this scene is the reason to watch: grown-up, quiet and a little dangerous. It’s the pillow talk she perfected ten years earlier in the Love & Other Drugs bedroom scene, and it holds its own on Anne Hathaway’s nude filmography, best first.
