What happens in The Testament of Ann Lee
The film follows Ann Lee, the 18th-century founder of the Shakers, from 1740s Manchester, where she’s a married woman, to America. Seyfried was 38 and 39 while shooting in Budapest from the summer into December 2024. The role brought Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominations for Best Actress, and more Wikipedia traffic than anything she’s made except The Housemaid.

Nobody has reported a body double; the prosthetics did the heavy lifting, and by her own account she had fun with it.
