What happens in Colombiana

Luc Besson co-wrote and produced it; Olivier Megaton directed. A nine-year-old watches her parents gunned down in Bogotá, and fifteen years later she’s a contract killer working her way toward the drug lord who ordered it. Critics didn’t love the film, but they singled out her performance, and she was 32 when filming began in August 2010.

Her one soft spot is Danny (Michael Vartan), an American boyfriend who has no idea what she does. The scene here is the morning after: she wakes in his bed, dresses in a hurry and goes, with her bare back on show and a split-second glimpse from the side before she’s covered. It’s quick because Cataleya is quick. The romance still costs her. Danny takes a photo of her asleep and shows it to a friend, and the background check that follows puts the FBI on her trail. Love, in a Besson movie, is a security breach.

Now the part the internet keeps getting wrong. The shower earlier in the film, after a hit, is a body double. Mr. Skin’s review puts it bluntly: “Zoe used a double!” That shot isn’t her, and I’m not going to pretend it is.
