What happens in “I Love My Country”

Season two hands Joe a mess. The Agency wants her to recruit Josephina Carrillo, an Army helicopter pilot whose uncle runs the cartel behind a congresswoman’s kidnapping, and their first meeting in Iraq ends in a firefight and then a fistfight between the two women. Taylor Sheridan wrote and directed the episode himself.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, Joe slips into the shower at home with Neal (Dave Annable). The camera follows her from behind as she walks into the bathroom, and Saldaña plays it relaxed, with her guard all the way down: a professional liar standing, for once, somewhere she doesn’t have to lie. It’s brief rear nudity, framed like a marriage rather than a pin-up, and it’s the scene I’d show anyone who thinks Joe is only a weapon.

She was 45 or 46 when season two filmed, between May and August 2024, and she’s an executive producer on the show. Here’s what stings now.
