Not a nude scene, and nobody ever claimed it was. But it is the closest Katy Perry has come to one on camera. In the official California Gurls video (2010) she lies naked on a pink cotton-candy cloud through the chorus, lilac bob wig, big smile, everything that matters hidden by the fluff. She was born 25 October 1984, so she was twenty-five when it was shot in May 2010.
It is also the video with the whipped-cream bra. Snoop Dogg plays “Sugar Daddy”, the king of a board-game world called Candyfornia, and Perry frees his captive candy girls, then beats his army of gummy bears with whipped-cream guns fixed to her bra.
What happens in the video
Perry is a game piece in Candyfornia, a world built out of cupcakes, ice cream, lollipops and cotton candy, with California landmarks rebuilt in sugar. She moves square to square freeing the Queens of Candyfornia from Sugar Daddy’s candy traps, then leads them in a beach dance.
The cloud is the chorus: Perry on her stomach, bare back and shoulders, cotton candy doing the covering. The ending is the whipped-cream guns, and Snoop Dogg buried to his neck in the sand.
