The sexy-but-sweet one. Teenage Dream (2010) was filmed in Santa Barbara, her hometown, in July 2010, with Josh Kloss as the boyfriend. She was twenty-five. Less makeup, more skin, and a story that runs from a white convertible to a motel bed to a kiss under water.
Perry said at the time the video would show “a very raw, almost vulnerable” side of her, a deliberate turn after the candy overload of California Gurls. Not nude. It does have the most intimate scenes of any Katy Perry video.
What happens in the video
Perry and her boyfriend drive the coast in a white late-1960s BMW convertible, party with her friends, end up in a motel room and on the bed, and finish in the pool at the Sandman Inn on State Street, kissing under water. The beach shots have her kneeling in the sand in front of Kloss.
Swimwear, lingerie-style tops and a lot of making out. Nothing more than that.
