Ti West made a slasher about a film crew shooting a dirty movie on a Texas farm in 1979, and he cast the girl from Pitch Perfect as the one who knows exactly what she is doing.
What happens in X
Bobby-Lynne Parker is the veteran of the little crew that rents a boarding house from an old couple who should never have said yes. She and Jackson, played by Scott Mescudi, are the movie’s stars, and West shoots their scenes like a real low-budget shoot: the director behind the camera, the crew crowded around the bed, and Bobby-Lynne topless, loud and completely in charge. Between takes she lies naked on the bed with a cigarette, cleaning up and talking, the least embarrassed person in Texas.
Snow told Collider that nothing was off the cuff: “Nothing was shown that wasn’t talked about at length beforehand,” and that it was all “based in character and not gratuitous sort of shock and awe.” She also called Mescudi “the best on-screen boyfriend,” and said on his podcast that the two of them did “maybe a couple scenes where we were both fully nude.” The rest is West knowing where to put the camera.
