Sex on a pile of money is a joke people make about stockbrokers, and Martin Scorsese is the only man who ever took the joke literally.
What happens in the money bed scene
Jordan is rich enough now to be stupid about it, and Naomi is the one who gets to enjoy it. Scorsese puts the camera on the ceiling and the two of them on a mattress covered in stacks of hundred-dollar bills, naked, with DiCaprio mostly in the way and Naomi’s face turned up at the lens. Then he cuts in close and low, bills flying, and the whole thing lasts about as long as their marriage deserved.
It looked glamorous. It wasn’t. She told The Daily Beast: “I got a million paper cuts on my back from all that money! It’s not as glamorous as it sounds. If anyone is ever planning on having sex on top of a pile of cash: don’t.” When she got up and turned around for her robe, the crew told her she looked like she’d been “whipped a million times.”
