What happens in episode two
Season three promoted Faye to the main cast and moved her out of Fez’s living room and into the machinery: drug runs with Rue and a lot of rooms that smell like motel carpet. This one is dim, lamp-lit and a little grim. She’s face down on the bed with a man behind her, and the camera stays back, then drifts off into the dark corners of the room like it’s embarrassed to be there.
Then the scene turns. A shirtless, tattooed guy stands in the half-light. Faye sits up on the edge of the bed, bare back to us. A hand fiddles with something metal. And finally there’s Chloe Cherry’s face, lit from above, looking up at something we don’t get to see, which is the whole trick of the shot. It’s not sexy the way a music video is sexy. It’s sexy the way a bad decision is sexy while you’re still making it.
What makes it work is that Cherry doesn’t play Faye as a victim or a vixen. She plays her as a woman at work: tired, sharp and keeping score. Nobody else in that cast could make a scene this seedy feel this matter-of-fact. That’s why it sits at number two in our ranking of Chloe Cherry nude scenes.
